Buyers: These tips will help you have an enjoyable and successful shopping experience at DCCE sales. You do not have to consign items in order to buy at the sale.
- DCCE accepts cash and personal checks with picture ID. We do not accept credit cards.
- Items are sold as-is. Check items carefully for size and condition before buying. All sales are final. No exchanges; no returns.
- Large items sell quickly. If you are in the market for a large item (e.g., nursery furniture, playsets, etc.), plan to get in line at least an hour before the sale opens, and go straight to the large-item area once you get in.
To purchase a large item: Do not remove any labels/tags from the item. Take the item to the special large-item check-out and pay for it. We will then give you a claim ticket for the item and hold it for you while you shop for clothes, toys, etc.
Note: Instead of carrying around a checkbook or pocketbook, many shoppers just tear out a check and stick it in their pocket. If you use this method, and if you're shopping for a large item, be sure to bring TWO checks in your pocket. You will need one check to purchase the large item(s), and another check for any clothing/toy/equipment purchases.
- Your children may accompany you to the sale (the regular sale, not the Preview Sale); however, shopping is easier without children in tow.

Note: Because of crowded conditions on the first sale day, we do not allow you to bring strollers into the building until after 12 noon.
- The sale location is not heated or air-conditioned; dress appropriately. THERE ARE NO WORKING RESTROOMS.
- Viewing racks are located throughout the sale area. Once you have made your initial clothing selections, you may take your items to any viewing rack and inspect them more carefully.
If you decide that you do not wish to purchase some of the items you brought to the viewing rack, you can return them to their sale rack, or simply leave them on the viewing rack. Our workers check the viewing racks periodically and will return abandoned items to the appropriate sale racks.
Note: Stay with your items when using a viewing rack. Items left unsupervised on a viewing rack are fair game for other shoppers, or may be returned to sale racks by our workers, as described above.
- Unfortunately on the first
sale day we cannot permit clothing to be tried on. For that reason, we encourage you to take careful measurements of well-fitting clothing that you already own, and bring those measurements with you to the sale. You can then compare those measurements to those of the clothes you are considering.
Some people find it helpful to bring a tape measure for checking inseam lengths, sleeve lengths, waist sizes, etc.
- We do not provide shopping carts or baskets. For that reason, many people bring a laundry basket or other container to hold their selections while they shop.
Note: You may want to label your laundry basket with your name and phone number, in case you leave it at the sale location by accident.
- Bring a friend!
